My Word for the Year: Calm

This year, I chose calm as my word of intention.

As a professional, a mother, and a woman navigating growth, ambition, and responsibility, life can easily become loud. Deadlines, expectations, family needs, and personal goals all compete for attention. In the middle of it all, I realized that what I needed most was not more pressure to do more, but the permission to move with calm.

Calm, for me, is about clarity over chaos. It is choosing thoughtful progress instead of constant urgency. It is learning to pause before reacting, to prioritize what truly matters, and to let go of what drains my energy without adding value.

In my career, calm means working with focus rather than overwhelm. It means trusting my process, making intentional decisions, and allowing growth to be steady and sustainable. In motherhood, calm looks like presence, showing up with patience, grace, and emotional steadiness, even on the busy days. In my personal life, it means protecting my peace, setting healthy boundaries, and giving myself room to breathe.

This year, I am using calm as my compass. If something aligns with clarity, balance, and purpose, I lean into it. If it brings unnecessary stress or distraction, I release it. My goal is not perfection, just a more grounded, intentional way of living.

Here’s to a year of calm choices, calm growth, and a calmer version of me.
